Since the Civil Peace Service was founded in 1999, around 1.800 international CPS professionals have worked in more than 60 countries. CPS experts are locally deployed for several years on the basis of the German Development Workers Act (Entwicklungshelfergesetz, EhfG).
The state and civil society work together in the Civil Peace Service. The CPS is run by nine German peace and development organisations in cooperation with local partner organisations. The CPS is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
In 2023 and 2024, the budget will amount to 60 million euros each.
